Health Hero: A Video Game Prototype for Children

I meant to make a short entry about this project a while back, but am just getting around to it now.  Health Hero is an educational video game concept that I co-authored with a pair of colleagues in Spring 2011 for an elective course at UH Manoa.  The course focused on informal learning environments, so this final project was meant as a video game children could play at  Dr.’s office or grocery store to learn about healthy eating and living habits.

We applied Gagne’s 9 Events of Instruction to our game and developed the gameplay description based on the work of Richard Rouse (specifically Game Design: Theory and Practice).  The Prezi above is from our presentation at the AACE E-Learn Conference last month in October.  We may plan to move forward with the development of Health Hero, but no solid plans have been set yet.

Take a look around the presentation.  Hope you enjoy it!
